The first commercial development of safe was around 1840 patent by a man named Wilder, shortly thereafter many others patent there safes such are Herring, Melinks, Turnbull etc. Small locking fireproof safes became a common place in society to secure ones valuables and papers. Today we still use this same technology today. Safes are very sought after for their small size, overall ornate design and practicality.
